Orlando City’s Felipe Martins Disappointed by Lionel Messi’s Attitude on the Field

Felipe Martins has already become disenchanted with Lionel Messi.

While for some the arrivals of the Argentine striker have been a real blessing, for others like the Orlando City midfielder it has been a disappointment.

Felipe, who was one of the many players with whom Messi had battles during the Round of 16 between Inter Miami and Orlando City for the Leagues Cup, regretted the attitude that the Argentine had with him during the match.

Messi constantly charged against Araujo and Felipe, but it was the Brazilian who ended up most surprised by the Argentine’s attitude, who told him everything when Martins tried to defend one of his teammates from Leo’s insults.

“At the end of the first half I already had some problems there, going out to the locker room, I was just protecting one of my teammates, who by the way didn’t do anything, it was just a play that was hard on the play, I stole the ball from him, and Messi was arguing with him, I just protected him.

“I think it’s a normal game thing. They are words that stay there at this moment. I’m not going to start creating controversy, they were things that, let’s say, I, from my point of view, would never tell anyone, but they are things that happen and we accept,” Felipe told ESPN Brasil.

The Orlando City midfielder said he is looking forward to meeting Messi again in September, when Inter Miami visits them in MLS.

“People always think that I am fighting, but they are things of the game, which stay there. I have respect for football, for all the players, and it’s not because I’m Messi or any other player that I’m going to change my way of doing things. I believe that duels and such things will happen on the pitch and I believe that all the players have to accept the moment, the things of the game, and not wait for someone or a name to receive special treatment.

“There is another game in September, I think they will come here on the 27th, and for sure, not only me, but all my teammates, we are looking forward to this game, now in MLS, to continue our work and try to get the three points for our team. fans too,” he said.
