Mainstay player Indonesian Volleyball Team Rivan Nurmulki was dropped from the squad that was prepared to appear at the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship in Iran, 19-26 August. What is the reason Rivan crossed out?
Rivan is the mainstay opposite spiker for the Indonesian Volleyball National Team in recent years. The 28-year-old player is one of the key players in Indonesia’s success winning the SEA Games gold medal three times in a row.
Deputy Head of PP PBVSI Achievement Development Division, Loudry Maspaitella, confirmed that Rivan was one of the two players dropped from the team. Another player who was dropped was setter Nizar Zulfikar.
Loudry said there were two reasons for Rivan not being able to join the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship. Rivan directly informed the Secretary General of PP PBVSI Heyzer Harsono about the reasons for not being able to join the Indonesian Volleyball National Team.
The first reason is Rivan’s temporary suspension from police duties. Currently, the code of ethics process faced by Rivan has been completed.
“We are waiting for a decision on whether he will be dishonorably or honorably dismissed. This process is ongoing,” Loudry was quoted as saying Between.
Meanwhile, regarding the second reason for Rivan’s removal, the former Japanese club player VC Nagano Tridents had to accompany his wife who was about to give birth to a second child.
Rivan, said Loudry, will return to join the Indonesian Volleyball National Team in the 2023 Asian Games next month. While Nizar will no longer represent the Indonesian national team.
“Through the evaluation of the team after returning from Taiwan [AVC Challenge Cup], it was decided to write off Nizar, with regeneration in mind. Under Nizar, there are young potentials, such as Alfin Daniel. Let’s give the younger generation a chance. We will call Rivan back for the Asian Games, while Nizar will not,” said Loudry.
To fill the void left by Rivan, the Indonesian Volleyball National Team will be strengthened by Agil Angga Anggara, Boy Arnez and Sandi Akbar. A total of 14 players were selected by coach Jiang Jie.
