Kreis started the competition with a bar at a height of five meters, which he overcame on the third attempt. After that, the Latvian jumped over the bar placed at a height of 5.20 meters with the first attempt, but did not overcome 5.35 meters in any of the three attempts, ending the competition in the third position.
American Trey Oates took first place, followed by Finland’s Juho Alasari. Both winners of the first two places finished the competition with 5.35 meters.
Five pole vaulters took part in the competition.
