1B The Challenger Pro League started tonight. The RSCA Futures missed their start and lost 1-3 against Beerschot, that other Purple & White. The Futures took the lead before the break via Monticelli (photo), but after the break the visitors completely straightened out the lopsided situation.
A lot of new guys at Anderlecht compared to last season. The youth guard of coach Martijn Reedijk dominated in the first half. After an earlier attempt, Monticelli converted the predominance into a goal just past the half hour mark. Angulo with the action and cross on the left and Monticelli pushed the ball into goal via Beerschot defender Tshimanga.
A little later, Lapage tried to shoot a free kick straight into goal from his own half, but the ball landed on the roof. On the other side, the only chance came for Michez, one of the three players with an Anderlecht past at Beerschot (Matthys and Nzita are the other two). The 1-0 lead at half time was justified. The Beerschot supporters who came along sent their team to the dressing room with a whistle concert.
After the break and a few substitutions, Beerschot took the lead. Substitute Verlinden, in the interest of RWDM, scored the equalizer just past the hour mark. In the final phase, the visitors pulled the sheet completely to themselves with two more goals: substitute Cagro first provided the assist and then also scored a third Antwerp goal.
Next weekend the Futures will visit Dender.
