Mathieu Van der Poel retires after a fall on the cross-country at the Glasgow Worlds

Disappointment for Mathieu Van der Poel. Engaged on Saturday in the cross-country at the Glasgow Worlds after his road title last Sunday, the Dutchman had to give up at the start of the race after falling. On the first lap, his front wheel slipped on a strip of gravel and the rider went to the ground, forcing him out of the race.

Committed with a view to validating his place for the Paris Olympic Games, Mathieu Van der Poel will therefore have to participate in other races to hope to obtain his ticket. The curse continues for the Dutchman who had already fallen two years ago during the Tokyo Olympics.
