The Tour of Spain 2023 It starts at the end of August, and the test will cover the national geography starting from Barcelona until its end in the Paisaje de la Luz in Madrid. The first third of the race will descend through the provinces that border the Mediterranean (with a visit to Andorra), touching Barcelona, Tarragona, Castellón, Valencia, Alicante and Murcia before flying to Valladolid, at the beginning of a journey to the east that It will end in Zaragoza. Later the race will move to Huesca before moving progressively west to Asturias, from where it will take a final turn that will finally lead to Madrid.
The most important cycling event in our country will take place along 3,153.8 kilometers, divided into 4 flat stages, 2 flat with a mountain finish, 6 medium mountain, 7 mountain, 1 individual time trial and another by teams. Between stages 9 and 10 there will be a day of rest, and the participants will also be able to recover their strength between 15 and 16.
The complete route is as follows:
Stage 1: On Saturday, August 26, a team time trial will be held. It will start and end in the city of Barcelona.
Stage 2: On Sunday, August 27, the cyclists will face a medium-mountain stage from Mataró to Barcelona.
stage 3: On Monday, August 28, the first mountain test arrives. The departure is in Súria and the arrival in Arinsal, in Andorra.
Stage 4: Andorra la Vella will be the starting point of the mountain stage on Tuesday, August 29. It will end in Tarragona.
Stage 5: On Wednesday, August 30, the race travels to Castellón. This mid-mountain stage connects Morella and Burriana.
Stage 6: The mountain stage on Thursday, August 31 ends the month with a tour from La Vall d’Uxó to the Javalambre Astrophysical Observatory, on Pico del Buitre in the Sierra de Javalambre, in Teruel.
stage 7: On Friday, September 1, we will witness the second longest stage of the Vuelta, although, yes, it is flat. Its 201 kilometers unite Utiel and Oliva.
stage 8: On Saturday, September 2, the test returns to the mountains, with an Alicante itinerary that leaves from Dénia and ends in Xorret de Catí.
stage 9: On Sunday, September 3, we will have a mid-mountain stage starting in Cartagena and finishing at Collado de la Cruz de Caravaca.
rest 1: On Monday, September 4, the runners will enjoy their first break. La Vuelta leaves the coast and travels to Castilla y León.
Stage 10: La Vuelta returns to the roads on Tuesday, September 5 with the individual time trial, which will start and end in the city of Valladolid.
Stage 11: On Wednesday, September 6, we will have a flat stage with a hilly finish. It leaves Lerma and ends at the Laguna Negra de Vinuesa.
stage 12: On Thursday, September 7, there will be a flat stage that will connect Ólvega and Zaragoza.
Stage 13: On Friday, September 8, the Vuelta returns to the mountains, with a stage between Formigal and the legendary Tourmalet.
Stage 14: On Saturday, September 9, the race ends its brief stint in France and, starting from Sauveterre-de-Béarn, there will be 156 and a half kilometers of medium mountains before reaching Larra-Belagua.
Stage 15: On Sunday, September 10, the runners will face a medium-mountain stage from Pamplona to Lekunberri.
rest 2: Participants will be able to recover on Monday, September 11 on the second and last day of rest of the Vuelta 2023.
Stage 16: With your legs rested, on Tuesday, September 12, we will experience a flat stage with a hilly finish that starts from Liencres beach and reaches Bejes.
Stage 17: On Wednesday, September 13, another of the legendary stages returns. The mountain route will leave Ribadesella and culminate in the Altu de L’Angliru.
Stage 18: Without leaving the mountain, the stage on Thursday, September 14 will go from Pola de Allande to Cruz de Linares.
Stage 19: On Friday, September 15, it is the flat stage. Its 177 and a half kilometers connect La Bañeza and Íscar.
stage 20: With 19 days of pedaling in the last 21, the cyclists will have to face the longest stage of the Vuelta on Saturday, September 16, at its penultimate stop. 208 kilometers of medium mountain, starting from Manzanares el Real and arriving at Guadarrama.
Stage 21: End of race. 101 and a half kilometers of flat stage on Sunday, September 17, from the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela to the Paisaje de la Luz in Madrid.
