Rincón de la Victoria to Host Andalusian Women’s Badminton Club Championship

Rincón de la Victoria will host the Andalusian Women’s Badminton Club Championship for the first time on September 3 in the Rubén Ruzafa municipal covered pavilion in Torre de Benagalbón. The Jorge Guillén Sports Club of Rincón de la Victoria, the Spanish Badminton Federation-Andalusia, the Andalusian Badminton Foundation (FAB), and the Sports Department of the Rincón de la Victoria City Council will bring together the best teams in this exclusively female competition and unique nationwide.

The Councilor for Sports, Antonio José Martín (PP), has indicated in a statement that «we continue to host high-level badminton competitions, after celebrating the II Women’s Badminton Cup last year. We continue to support all kinds of disciplines, including badminton, a sport that continues to grow in Rincón de la Victoria through the club and the municipal school.

The mayor of Rincón, Francisco Salado (PP), has highlighted “our commitment to sports, turning Rincón de la Victoria into a fixed destination for holding regional, national and international events that have a significant promotional and economic impact for our municipality”. The president of CD Jorge Guillén, Susana Muñoz, has highlighted “the importance of supporting women’s sport, this time an individual championship, and for the first time by teams at the Andalusian level, which will count towards the national classification”.

The event, with free admission, will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is scheduled to end at 9:00 p.m. There will be medals for the first two classified of each modality and category. At the provincial level, some six teams will compete, including the Jorge Guillén Sports Club of Rincón de la Victoria.
