With great mettle and discipline, William Pérez won the gold medal in the junior category -100 kilograms at the Cadet and Junior Pan American Cup, Santo Domingo 2023. The event took place from August 19 to 20 in the Dominican Republic, reported the Confederation Autonomous Sports of Guatemala (CDAG).
“The Judo Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, Santo Domingo de Guzmán, was the stage where Pérez climbed to the top of the podium. He beat the Dominican Emmanuel Peralta de la Cruz, who took the silver; and the also Dominican Víctor Pascual who got the bronze”, said the Confederation.

Atz’s work
In addition to William Pérez, Ángel Gómez also participated, who was in the -66 kilograms division for cadets and juniors. He ranked fifth in both cups. The two Guatemalan judokas had the guidance of coach César Aníbal Atz.
The regional event had the participation of seven countries and 68 competitors, in weights from -40 kilograms to +100 kilograms, in male and female branches.
After their participation, Pérez and Gómez will be part of the Cadet and Junior Training Camp, Santo Domingo 2023, organized by the Dominican Judo Federation, from August 21 to 26.
