American football lovers, especially those of the sport’s main league — the National Football League (NFL) — have a saying: “September always comes!”. When do NFL games take place?
NFL seasons traditionally run from September to February (ending with the Super Bowl). During the season, matches take place on Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays. Most games are played on Sunday, since early afternoon in Brazil. In general, on Thursdays only one game takes place, called Thursday Night Football. The same happens on Mondays, with Monday Night Football, and also on Sunday night, when Sunday Night Football is played. These three weekly matches are on prime time on American TV.
How many games is the NFL season made up of?
In all, the NFL regular season is 18 weeks long, with each of the 32 teams playing 17 games, plus a scheduled rest week, the bye week. After that, the best ranked playoffs play in single matches, until the Super Bowl.
