Asunta Basterra and Rosario Porto, buried together and almost incognito

Ten years after the murder at the hands of her parents, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra, of little Asunta, who had not even turned thirteen, the true motives for the crime remain a mystery.

It was considered that the girl could have become a nuisance, the economic motive was considered and also the sexual motivation, but the truth is that to this day we still do not know the true reason why Asunta was killed.

What many do not know is that the lifeless body of Rosario Porto, who committed suicide in the Brieva prison (Ávila) when she was serving her sentence for the murder of her daughter, was buried in the same grave in which the ashes of little Asunta.

Without flowers and without names on the tombstone: Asunta Basterra and Rosario Porto, buried together and almost incognito in the Boisaca cemetery

Mother and daughter rest in a grave owned by their maternal family in the Compostela cemetery of Boisaca, on whose tombstone the name of neither of them can be seen and it is unusual to see symbols of remembrance such as flowers.

Where there is still an authentic altar in honor of Asunta Basterra is in the place where her lifeless body appeared. From there, journalist Paco Pérez Caballero has shown ‘Horizonte’ how the Teo forest track is located, in A Coruña.

Furthermore, Paco Pérez Caballero has assured that it is very strange that the murderer and the victim rest in the same grave and that no similar case comes to mind: “It is like a punishment from which you can no longer escape,” he stated.

The tenth anniversary of her death has increased the number of flowers, stuffed animals and messages asking for justice placed in the place where on September 22, 2013, around one in the morning, the little girl’s body appeared. This forest track in the town of Feros, in Teo (A Coruña), has since become an improvised altar in memory of the victim.
