Former baseball star Tim Wakefield dies at the age of 57. His former club, the Boston Red Sox, said this on X (formerly Twitter): “The loss of Tim Wakefield breaks our hearts.”

Father of two children
On the field, his trademark was the “knuckleball“. A special throw that is thrown without any rotation, which makes the trajectory particularly unstable and therefore unpredictable for the opponent. Wakefield positioned his fingertips on the ball like little rabbits.
Off the pitch he was known as a loving family man, as described by his former club. He has two children, Trevor and Brianna Grace, with his wife Stacy, whom he married in 2011. (jma)
