The in-form Italian tennis professional Jannik Sinner became the fourth player to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin in mid-November. After his convincing tournament victory in Tokyo on Wednesday, the 22-year-old South Tyrolean was enough to make it into the third round of the Masters in Shanghai. He defeated the American Marcos Giron 7:6 (9:7), 6:2.
Olympic champion Alexander Zverev also hopes to take part in the unofficial world championship at the end of the tennis year. The Hamburger’s chances are good despite his crushing second-round defeat in Shanghai against the Russian Roman Safiullin (3:6, 1:6).
Zverev, who won the prestigious tournament in 2018 and 2021, is currently in seventh place in the ranking of the year’s best.
The top eight of the tennis year will play in Turin from November 12th to 19th. In addition to Sinner, Grand Slam record champion Novak Djokovic (Serbia), the Spanish Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev from Russia have already qualified.
