ESSM Le Portel Ends Losing Streak with First Win of the Season

In its Chaudron, ESSM Le Portel ended its black streak by winning its first victory of the season against the Chorale de Roanne (91-76).

The ESSM had failed so far against Bourg, Nanterre, Villeurbanne, Le Mans, and Chalon but the sixth attempt was the right one. Eric Girard’s team owes a debt of gratitude to his quartet David DiLeo (20 points on 7/10 on shots and 6 rebounds), Robert Turner (20 points), Bastien Vautier (12 points on 6/7 on shots and 5 rebounds) and Brison Gresham (8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks), and also to the engagement of everyone including the audience at the Chaudron.

Roanne broke down at the end of the match like his coach Jean-Denys Choulet who was sent off for two technical fouls. The score of the last quarter is clear: 24 to 11. With 21 points and 7 rebounds, Jordan Tucker was the most efficient of the Roannais. In defense of the Choir, the withdrawal of Kadri Moendadze and the injuries during the match to Yannis Morin (10 minutes of playing time) and Antoine Diot (16′).

Le Portel thus leaves Gravelines and Boulogne-Levallois in last place for the moment. This evening, the BCM goes to Dijon and tomorrow the Mets will play the Paris derby against Paris. A date marked in red: October 22; it will be the Opalico between Le Portel and Gravelines and it will not be a party for the loser.
