Hurricane Lidia: first fatality in Bahía de Banderas – El Sol de México

In the Permanent Session of the State Council of Civil Protection, headed by the governor of the State, Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, the progress and the balance that Hurricane Lidia, in category 4, has left in the last hour in Nayarit was announced.

He also pointed out that there are 25 shelters operating and until now there are 376 refugees.

There are fallen trees and landslides that they are trying to remove as quickly as possible on the roads of the municipalities of Bahía de Banderas and Compostela, however, the strong gusts of wind and the heavy rain prevent rapid progress.

The meteorologist, Jerusalem Ceja García, announced that the flow of the Mololoa River in Tepic has already increased and with the rains that will continue to fall in the capital, there is a high probability that it will overflow in the low areas, he urged not to get complacent and specified that Lidia’s strength will continue until close to midnight this Tuesday.

The red alert is for the municipalities of: Ahuacatlán, Amatlán de Cañas, Compostela, Ixtlán del Río, Jala, Xalisco, Ruiz, San Pedro Lagunillas, Santa María del Oro, Tepic, and Bahía de Banderas. The orange alert is for the municipalities: Del Nayar, Rosamorada, San Blas, Santiago Ixcuintla, La Yesca, and Tuxpan; while for Acaponeta, Huajicori and Tecuala they are on yellow alert.

The president announced that for tomorrow, Wednesday, state government personnel will not work and expressed that the resumption of classes in person may not occur for the remainder of the week, but he invited them to be done virtually.

Likewise, the executive instructed that as soon as weather conditions allow, the relatives of the deceased person be located to support them as necessary.
