Marc Marquez will ride for Ducati Gresini next season in MotoGP

After eleven years at Honda, Marc Marquez will join Gresini, Ducati’s satellite team, where his brother Alex plays. His new team announced the arrival of the six-time MotoGP world champion in a press release on Thursday: “The Gresini family is delighted to announce the arrival of Marc Marquez for the 2024 season.” “This is a historic moment for the Gresini family,” enthused the boss of her future stable, Nadia Padovani Gresini.

Last week, the Spaniard expressed his emotion and today, he does not hide a bit of nostalgia, offset by the challenge of novelty: “It wasn’t an easy decision because it’s a big change in more than one way… But I am enthusiastic about the idea of taking on this new challenge. » Since September, rumors were rife about his departure from Honda, a year before the expiration of his contract, and his arrival at Gresini. The suspense ended this Thursday.

Since his fall during the first race of the 2020 season, the Catalan has multiplied operations and physical glitches. Now recovered, he is currently struggling on the handlebars of his Honda. Lacking performance against the other manufacturers on the grid, the factory team is currently in 11th and last place in the team championship. Its satellite team, Honda-LCR, does little better with a 9th place.

In the World Drivers’ Championship, Marc Marquez is currently 15th, with only 64 points, far behind Italian leader Francesco Bagnaia (319 pts). The next Grand Prix takes place this weekend on the island of Lombok, Indonesia.
