Julian Nagelsmann has started his period as Germany coach well. The successor to the dismissed Hansi Flick won an exhibition match against the United States in East Hartford on Saturday: 1-3.

PSV players Sergiño Dest (starting player) and Ricardo Pepi (substitute) participated in the Americans. The US took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from captain Christian Pulisic.

Ilkay Gündogan scored the equalizer just before half time. In the second half the Germans took control of the match. Niclas Füllkrug and Jamal Musiala scored in the 58th and 61st minutes respectively to determine the final score: 1-3.

This made Nagelsmann a great debut as national coach for Germany. The coach was appointed last month after Hansi Flick was fired due to poor results. Germany had already been outplayed in the group stage at the World Cup in Qatar last year and Flick was unable to get on track in the months that followed.

Nagelsmann is with the German team until mid-2024 and will lead the four-time world champion at the European Championships in his own country. The Germans will play another practice match against Mexico on Wednesday.
