Al-Hilal confirms Neymar’s cruciate ligament tear

Brazil’s superstar Neymar suffered a torn cruciate ligament and a meniscus injury in the 2-0 defeat in World Cup qualifying in Uruguay. His club Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia confirmed this on Wednesday evening.

“Neymar’s medical tests have confirmed the cruciate ligament tear and meniscus injury. He will undergo surgery and then complete a rehabilitation program that will be determined later,” his club Al-Hilal said in a statement.

Neymar was thrown off balance when a Uruguayan was fouled at the end of the first half and sprained his left knee.

The 31-year-old moved from PSG to Al-Hilal for 90 million euros in the summer. In the Saudi Pro League he has so far had three assists in three league games.
