Hannover 96 and SV Elversberg win

Hannover 96 is in a promotion spot for at least one night. Lower Saxony won 2-1 (1-0) on Friday evening against 1. FC Magdeburg, which has now been winless for five games.

In front of 38,000 spectators, Enzo Leopold gave Hannover the lead with a deflected shot in the 11th minute. The Magdeburgers had previously given the ball away carelessly during the build-up to the game. After the equalizer with a remarkable long-range shot from Baris Atik (57th minute), it only took four minutes until the score was 2-1 again. Daniel Elfadli caused a hand penalty for Hannover, which 96-goal scorer Cedric Teuchert converted into his sixth penalty goal of the season (61st).

Magdeburg also had a good away game. The guests had significantly more possession of the ball – but only one dangerous player in Atik. The 28-year-old also missed the best opportunity to make it 2-2 with a free kick (78th). Hanover was more compelling in comparison. Louis Schaub (34th) and Cedric Teuchert (38th) had the second goal on their hands before the break. The 96ers, on the other hand, hardly allowed any clear Magdeburg chances.

Weak Braunschweigers

Eintracht Braunschweig has suffered the next setback and remains bottom of the table. The Lower Saxony deservedly lost 0:3 (0:2) at newly promoted SV Elversberg on Friday and failed to win in the seventh game in a row. The Elversbergers have now been unbeaten for six games and have scored 14 out of 18 possible points. Paul Stock (20th minute), Paul Wanner (43rd) and Joseph Boyamba (90th + 6) scored the goals for the Saarlanders.

The hosts were clearly superior in the first half, the Braunschweig team seemed nervous and made a lot of mistakes. Stock scored from a corner, and Wanner, on loan from FC Bayern Munich, shot into the left corner.

In the second half, coach Jens Härtel tried to revive the guests’ offense with several changes. But little changed. The supposed goal by Johan Gomez was disallowed due to a foul on goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof (77th).

There was a short interruption in the twelfth minute because pyrotechnics flew onto the pitch from the visiting fan block.
