Tomoyasu Kawaguchi (52), former manager of Mitsubishi Motors Okazaki and vice-chairman of the Japan Baseball Federation Athlete Committee, has been appointed as the new manager to replace Akio Ishii, who served as the manager of the Japan National Team for seven years. His term ends at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi), which begins in September 2026. The 30th BFA Asian Baseball Championship (Taipei, Taiwan), which begins on December 3rd, will be his first actual match as a national team manager. Tomoyasu Kawaguchi Born in 1971. Born in Wakayama City. He joined Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in April 1994 after attending Wakayama Prefectural Toin High School and Meiji University. He played as an infielder for Mitsubishi Motors Okazaki until October 2000. He gained experience as a manager and coach, and was appointed manager in 2005. Until he retired in 2009, he led Mitsubishi Motors Okazaki to four city championships.
