Bundesliga: FC Bayern, Mazraoui and the Middle East conflict – Sport

When war broke out in the Middle East, football professionals also commented on it. Anwar El Ghazi caused a stir with a pro-Palestine post in which he spread the slogan “From the river to the sea,” which indirectly denies Israel’s right to exist. FSV Mainz 05 suspended him. Noussair Mazraoui distributed a video wishing the “oppressed brothers in Palestine” a victory. FC Bayern left him in the squad.

The club released a statement saying that the Moroccan international had “credibly assured that, as a peace-loving person, he resolutely rejects terror and war.” The Central Council of Jews considered FC Bayern’s behavior to be “appropriate overall and in view of all possibilities, including the always clear stance of the club itself.” For now there was calm. But on Monday the Central Council clarified its statement via the Süddeutsche Zeitung. And now the question naturally arises: How does the club deal with this new development? What happens next in this situation?

Moderator Anna Dreher talks about this in this episode of “And Now to Sport” with deputy sports department head Martin Schneider and Bayern reporter Philipp Schneider.
