Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS Announces Multi-Year Partnership with NBA, WNBA, and US National Team

Kim Kardashian is getting in touch with the NBA: Her underwear line SKIMS has announced a multi-year partnership with the National Basketball Association, the WNBA and the US national team.

Big Business already a week after the regular one NBA-Season start: “Become together SKIMS and the NBA, connecting people of all backgrounds through fashion, sports and talent, and I look forward to seeing the partnership thrive,” explains Kim Kardashianco-founder and creative director of SKIMS in a statement about the future exclusive cooperation between SKIMS and NBA (live & free on Joyn).

She is incredibly proud of the growing influence of SKIMS and that it is reflected in the culture. The billion-dollar underwear empire has steadily grown in influence and sales since its founding in 2019, as has NBA Commissioner Adam Silver notes, “SKIMS has quickly become one of our most culturally influential brands.”

Effective marketing

This partnership is impressive – and it is: Part of the cooperation is SKIMS’ presence on the league’s various social and media platforms. A symbiosis with a prognosis for success.

After all, the NBA has created one of the largest social media communities in the world, with 2.1 billion likes and follows worldwide across all leagues, team and player platforms. Kim Kardashian comes in seventh place in the ranking for the most Instagram follows.

In addition to the digital presence, the brand will also be identified through on-field signage during national broadcasts. As the business magazine “Forbes” summarizes, the NBA also benefits from the contract with its predominantly young audience, 70 percent of which are men.

“Together SKIMS will become the NBAdie WNBA and US Basketball “Using the power of basketball to generate excitement and demand by showing up in unexpected ways,” said the press release about the newly formed partnership.

SKIMS for men

Just last week, SKIMS expanded its product range. Until now, shapewear, loungewear and underwear have been made exclusively for women. With SKIMS Mens they now want to attack a new target group.

The ambitions are sporty, the models for the new line are even sportier. The advertising faces (and bodies) for the underwear are top athletes, including football stars Neymar Jr., Thunder-Point-Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and American football professional Nick Bosa.
