Viennese Judoka Christian Kerschner Wins Bronze at Veterans World Championships in Abu Dhabi

The rain of medals continues for Austria at the Veterans World Championships in Abu Dhabi – and this time there was bronze for a Viennese. Christian Kerschner (M&R Galaxy Judotigers) jumped onto the podium in the M4/up to 81 kilos class. This is his third bronze medal after the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 European Championship! Previously had in their age and weight classes Julian the Russian (St) gold as well Reinhold Kurz (T) and Karl Hufnagl (Lower Austria) each won bronze.

After three victories up to 81 kilos in the M4 age group (over a Frenchman, an Irishman and a Georgian), Kerschner only had to admit defeat to the eventual world champion Florent Martelet (FRA) in the semifinals. In the fight for bronze, the 47-year-old beat the Bulgarian Georgy Shishkov through. The third major event for Krisztian, the third medal! We warmly congratulate you! The World Championships will conclude on Friday with the remaining classes in which Austria has further chances of winning a medal.
