Judo lovers will once again enjoy a top-level competition at the Jesús Suárez Valgrande Sports Center in La Pola / Pola de Lena, after having hosted the same space a few days ago at the ‘Puerta d’Asturies’, in which it was the return of the competition after a five-year break. This afternoon will be time for the exciting Asturias Senior Championship. The Judo Federation of the Principality explains that this event «marks the final stretch of the season and promises high-quality fights on the three corresponding tatami«.
With a scheduled start at five in the afternoon, competitors will fight for their place in the sector phase of the Spanish Senior Championship. «After a successful passage through the XIX Puerta de Asturias National Tournament, the judokas will face each other in qualifying matches that will decide who advances to represent Asturias in the national competition. The Asturias Senior Championship is not only an opportunity to demonstrate exceptional skills on the tatami, but also an event that promotes camaraderie and competitive spirit in the Asturian judo community. Three people from Lenense will compete at home, the judokas from the Lena Judo Club Javier Álvarez, Diego Menéndez and Marcos Fernández. From the Lena Judo Club they advance that «three tatami mats are preparing to receive the 87 competitors who will perform approximately 120 fights with the elimination system with double repechage and leagues in a day full of emotion, physical and technical skills«.
