Portland Blazers Dealing with Injuries: Lillard Sale Triggers Year Zero

Crowded infirmary for Portland which, in addition to the former Celtics big man, also has to do without rookie Scoot Henderson and guard Anfernee Simons

The sale of star Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks triggered year zero for Portland, in the midst of a reconstruction phase this season in which it is also very unlucky in terms of injuries.

The Oregon franchise, in fact, immediately had to give up starting guard Anfernee Simons, who was forced to have surgery on his right thumb after just one regular season game in which he scored 18 points; problems also for the third overall choice in the last draft, Scoot Henderson, knocked out by his right ankle.

The worst news, however, came from Robert Williams III, acquired by the Celtics as part of the trade that brought Jrue Holiday to Boston, with the 26-year-old from Louisiana who will have to undergo surgery on his right knee injured in last Sunday’s match with Memphis and will be available again no earlier than the 2024-2025 regular season.

In the six games played with the Blazers, Time Lord was averaging just over six points (6.8) and six rebounds (6.3).
