The 2023 Revolutionary Badminton Tournament was held in Temixco, organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare through the Municipal Sports and Physical Culture Directorate.
This tournament, which was part of the celebrations of the Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, was held at the Plaza Carlota Ortiz facilities in the Lomas del Carril neighborhood.
Competitors participated in the singles and doubles modalities, both in the women’s and men’s branches, in the under 11, under 13, under 15, under 17 and under 19 categories.
This event also served as preparation for the state Pre-selective Tournament scheduled for November 25 at the Centenario Sports Unit.
Notable results of the tournament included Emiliano Carrera in first place in the under 17 category, followed by Sofía Ruiz and Ian Álvarez.
In the under 15 category, Amzy Núñez Gutiérrez took first place, while Denisse Lagunas and Emma Álvarez completed the podium. In the under 13 category, Paola Téllez took first place, followed by Eduardo Lagunas and Ruby Gutiérrez.
Badminton has experienced significant growth in Morelos during 2022 and 2023, with young athletes participating in national and international competitions.
The organizers emphasized the importance of promoting this sport not only in sports clubs, but also in different municipalities of the state.
The continued work of the state badminton leader seeks to expand the talent base in the region, highlighting the natural abilities of many young people in this sport.
In addition, the importance of the constant training offered by the federation through courses for coaches, leaders and players was highlighted.
