With the participation of 180 athletes from six countries, from December 4 to 12, the state of Aragua will host the South American Badminton Championship Venezuela 2023, which will see action at the facilities of the Las Delicias Sports Center in Maracay.

This announcement was made at a press conference by Dayisbel Torrealba, president of the Venezuelan Badminton Federation, who stated that she was proud to announce this event of high international competition in Aragón.

“Badminton is a very little-known sport in the country and the Aragua state is one of the states that has given it the most national and international projection,” said Torrealba.

He highlighted that it is the second event of this nature held in the entity and given the success obtained in the previous one and that it has excellent fields that comply with international regulations, it was chosen again as the venue.

“We are fortunate that Venezuela, for the first time in history, since this discipline was made known, was selected for its realization,” Torrealba stressed.

Maracay will host athletes in the adult team and individual categories, as well as Youth U11, U13, U15, U17, U19 and Parabadminton SL3, SL4, SU5 and SH6.

The participating countries are Peru with 42 athletes, Brazil with 11, Chile 24, Ecuador 9, Colombia 10 and Venezuela as host with 85, where Aragua’s contribution is nine.

The adult individual modality will take place from December 4 to 8 and then a team tournament with the participation of five countries, where Ecuador will not intervene. Likewise, the youth category is scheduled for 9 to 12, which ranges from U11 (children aged 9 and 10), from Sub-11 to Sub-19.

For his part, Jorge Briceño, president of the Aragua Regional Sports Institute (IRDA), highlighted that the entity will once again be the country’s sports showcase, on the occasion of receiving athletes from 5 South American countries.

He extended the invitation to the community to come to the Las Delicias Sports Center on those days, since entry to all meetings is free.
