Skylar Spencer: The Newest Addition to Varese Basketball

VARESE – The new arrival at Varese Basketball is Skylar Spencer, who will wear the red and white vest until the end of the ’23-’24 season.

Born in 1994, Spencer is an attacking player, thanks also to his 206 centimeters, but also a defensive player. Varese is his second club in Italy, after last season in Trieste.

The career of Skylar Rodrigo Spencer

Skylar Rodrigo Spencer was born in Inglewood, California, on 11 July 1994. After four years spent at San Diego State University, he began his career in Malaysia wearing the jersey of the Kuala Lumpur Dragons, the team with which he played the ASEAN League (closed in 16.2 points and 14.3 rebounds on average per game) and the FIBA ​​Asian Champions Cup, a competition in which he scored 12.3 points and 11 rebounds per lace-up.

After a season spent between GLeague (Fort Wayne Mad Ants first, Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario after) and Venezuela (Guaros de Lara), in 2018-2019 he arrives in Europe where he wears the Steaua Bucharest jersey, a team with which he also plays the FIBA Europe Cup with 16 points and 9.8 rebounds on average. The following year he divided his time between Lithuania and Finland, while in 2020-2021 he was involved in Belgium with Mons-Hainaut where in 35 appearances he totaled 13.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. In 2021-2022 he wears the BK Astana shirt, while last year he arrives in Italy, in Trieste; the impact with the LBA is positive: in an unfortunate season for the red and white team, in fact, Skylar manages to score 8.2 points on average (high of 20 in the away defeat against Verona) and almost 8 rebounds per game (the second best rebounder in the entire championship) with a maximum of 14 obtained on two occasions. At the beginning of this season he played in Mexico for the Libertadores de Queretaro, a team with which he reached the playoff semi-final.
