Just a few hours ago, anime fans were finally able to get news about the sequel to Chainsaw Man, with the announcement of an animated film which was revealed through a first teaser. But this is not the only title that was presented during Jump Festa 2024, since fans were also able to learn more about another project from the now famous MAPPA studio, which is preparing lots of surprises for us for 2024. It is from December 16 to 17, 2023 that we can find the Jump Festa 2024, an event which is held every year in Japan and which has become an unmissable event for manga and anime lovers, since it highlights the works that can be found in the various Shueisha magazines . On this occasion, fans were able to learn more about many very popular titles, such as One Piece For example.
And among the other participants in the event, we could also find the famous MAPPA studio. Because in addition to the announcement of the sequel to Chainsaw Manwithout forgetting the one concerning season 2 of Hell’s Paradisethe Japanese animation studio also took the opportunity to reveal a little more about one of its future projects. Titled Bōkyaku Battery (or Oblivion Battery), fans were able to get a unique glimpse of this upcoming sports anime thanks to a brand new trailer.
A trailer which also allows us to discover a release date, the anime should then debut in April 2024. It is adapted from the manga of the same name by Eko Mikawa, which has been pre-published since April 2018 within the Shōnen Jump+ de la Shueisha. Bōkyaku Battery is centered around baseball, a particularly popular sport in Japan and which has already had numerous works dedicated to it in the past. We will think in particular of Big Windup!but also Major, Ace of Diamond or One Outsto recite nobody else but them.
Note that this is not the first time that Bōkyaku Battery is the subject of an animated adaptation, since in 2020, MAPPA had already produced an ONA (or Original Net Animation) of around twenty minutes on the occasion of the Jump Special Anime Festa.
Regarding the plot now, Bōkyaku Battery follows the story of Haruka Kiyomine et Kei Kaname, two young baseball players who are making a lot of noise on the field. Haruka is a pitcher of incredible ability, while Kei is an equally impressive catcher known as “General”. The two formed an unstoppable power duo in college. And although they have been scouted by prestigious sports schools all over Japan, they will eventually join an ordinary high school in the capital, because Kei suffers from amnesia.
