L’Éventail de Pont-l’Abbé was transformed into a dojo on Thursday December 14: the Judo Club celebrated Christmas, a ceremony magnified by the presentation of grades for around sixty young people aged 6 and over, who came to receive their new belt according to their level of learning, surrounded by an audience won over in advance: a good hundred parents armed with their cell phones!
The two trophies won in 2022 and 2023 at the Gémozac tournament were highlighted at the entrance to the room: victories in line with the club’s fine reputation. The warm-up of all the young people transformed the tatami into a forest of intertwined arms and legs, under the keen eye of four supervisors, including Daniel Montefort, 81 years old, multi-awarded during his 65 years of judo, always rigorous and copy.
Planned travel
“I am always very moved by the training of all these kids! », confides Didier Mousset, supervisor who has been at the club for more than fifty-three years, 3rd dan black belt. “This year, we are fortunate to have three teenagers and three adults who are new to judo, which allows us to have a homogeneous group to train. In five years, they could be black belts! On the other hand, we have just created a section in Nieulle-sur-Seudre as part of the 1,000 Dojos solidarity program, thus meeting the objective of the federation and the State. We will also open a section in Beurlay next year,” explains Olivier Macaud, president of the club.
The delivery of the belts, then the delivery of personalized bibs offered to future competitors by around ten club sponsors took place in the presence of a councilor from the town of Nieulle-sur-Seudre. Olivier Macaud adds: “The generosity of our partners allows us to continue to organize the three-day trip to Paris in February for 57 judokas who will attend the Grand Slam, a world-famous tournament. » Didier Mousset also spoke about the trip scheduled for June to the Spanish Basque Country in Zarautz: judo and hiking on the menu for the three days, an attractive project.
