Cyril Jonard, ten times world champion in para-judo, visually impaired and deaf and Raphaël Ourednik world champion in the “deaf and hard of hearing” category will meet disabled people and take part in a major departmental training Thursday evening in Embrun.
In full preparation for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, two champions stop in the Hautes-Alpes. Their track record makes the eyes of the youngest judokas sparkle, the two athletes compete in events for blind and visually impaired judokas.
For the last months of training, Cyril Jonard, ten times world champion in para-judo, visually impaired and deaf and Raphaël Ourednik world champion in the “deaf and hard of hearing” category are stopping for a few days in the Hautes-Alpes with the coach of the French team, Cyril Pages.
“It’s a great opportunity for young people to see a champion like Cyril,” rejoices the president of the departmental Judo committee in Hautes-Alpes, Johan Martin-Peltier.
A great departmental training
They arrive this Monday at the Institut Médico-Educatif (IME) in Savines-le-Lac where they are accommodated for their stay in the Hautes-Alpes, they will be able to interact with the young people from the IME.
“They will enjoy the pure air of the Hautes-Alpes,” quips a judoka from the department. The champions should pass through the Crévoux and Orres station between their training at the Embrun dojo.
Thursday evening the Hautes-Alpes judo committee is organizing departmental training. “It’s mass training,” explains Johan Martin-Peltier. “Young judokas will be able to spend an hour on the tatami”, with Cyril Jonard and Raphaël Ourednik. A time for discussion will also be organized.
