In the first set the blue starts well and immediately escapes to a comfortable 3-0, thanks to the break at fifteen in the second game. Napolitano goes to serve for the set in the ninth game but finds himself down 0-40 and then gives up serve on the third occasion. In the twelfth game, however, the Italian took the lead at 0-30 in response and then went to set point at 30-40, taking advantage of the opportunity and closing on 7-5 after 52 minutes. In the second set Napolitano missed a break point in the second game and then gave up the serve in the third, but found the immediate counterbreak in the fourth. The blue player gets out of trouble on serve both in the seventh game, when he comes back from 0-40 by canceling four break points overall, and in the ninth, when he cancels a further break point. Once again Napolitano gets the decisive break in the twelfth game, winning the last four points played in response and closing on 7-5 after 68 minutes of play.
