In exchange, the Californians gave their second best promise, Michael Busch, and reliever Yency Almonte.

Ferris, 19, was the eighth-best prospect in the Cubs organization. He has a three-pitch repertoire that generates many missed swings in the strike zone.
For his part, Hope, 18, is a patrolman who has just played 11 games in 2023 in the Arizona Fall League with the Cubs, where he hit .286 with three home runs and nine RBIs.
Busch, 26, can play third base and second base, and is ranked as the No. 44 prospect on MLB Pipeline. Almonte made 49 appearances with Los Angeles in 2023 and had a 5.06 ERA.
