We invited Guillaume Avrillas, the Dordogne UNSS departmental director to talk about this UNSS departmental laser-run championship. This is the 3rd edition and middle and high school students particularly like this discipline, which will, once again, be a hit.
This Wednesday, January 17, 2023, 150 students representing 40 middle school teams and 8 high school teams from Dordogne are invited to participate in the 3rd edition of the UNSS departmental laser-run championship. The meeting is set at the Gaston Simounet stadium in Bergerac. A relay event for a discipline that has yet to be discovered.
What is laser running? Here are some explanations
Laser run is a sporting discipline from the Modern Pentathlon Sports Federation. It combines running and laser shooting. A captivating and stimulating experience that is a bit like a biathlon event. But there, there is no skiing, no snow and the rifles are replaced by laser guns. You have to combine speed and precision, running and laser shooting. You also have to have endurance. This event in the form of a relay promotes team spirit and conviviality and solidarity. The event is full, having closed and reached the registration quotas. Proof of the students’ enthusiasm for this discipline.

As at each UNSS meeting, around thirty young judges are also involved in timing and judging the shots and enforcing the rules. The best teams will qualify for the academic championship, that of Nouvelle Aquitaine, which will take place in Bergerac, on February 7, 2024, for the second consecutive year.
