The German national basketball player Isaiah Hartenstein continues to shine as a rebounder in the North American professional league NBA for the New York Knicks.

In the 113:109 (46:45) home win against the Washington Wizards on Thursday (January 18, 2024 / local time), Hartenstein grabbed 17 balls that bounced off the boards, which is also why the Knicks won their eighth of ten games so far in January.

During this period, Hartenstein averaged 14.3 rebounds per game – no player in the NBA will have more in the new year. The 25-year-old also scored six points and handed out three assists against Washington. The Knicks scored 40 points in the final period and maintained their narrow lead. The team from New York is currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

Next bankruptcy for Schröder and the Raptors

For world champion Dennis Schröder, however, it was the fifth defeat from the last six encounters with the Toronto Raptors. After the Raptors recently celebrated their biggest win of the season, they now lost 110:116 (58:63) against the Chicago Bulls. Two and a half minutes before the end of the game, the Raptors were in the lead by one point, but didn’t score from the field after that. Schröder scored seven points and five assists. Toronto is still outside the playoff ranks in twelfth place in the East.

Wins for Minnesota and Oklahoma

In the Western Conference, the two best teams remain on the road to success: The leaders, the Minnesota Timberwolves, defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 118:103 (50:55), dominated the final period 37:17 and achieved their fourth win in a row. The second-placed Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Utah Jazz 134:129 (76:67).
