Decathlon recently entered the smart trainer market with a range of Zwift compatible products. This marks a significant step for the company in the indoor cycling sector, aiming to become a market leader in performance cycling.
Decathlon’s new line of smart trainers features models at different price and feature levels, under the Van Rysel brand. At the entry level, we find the Van Rysel D100, an interactive turbo trainer available for €249.99. Despite being one of the cheapest models on the market, it has some limitations: it can simulate slopes of up to 6% and has a maximum resistance of 600 watts. However, for its price, it represents a valid option for those approaching smart training for the first time.
Moving up the range, the Van Rysel D500 offers more features than the D100, with a price of €450.00. This model has a maximum resistance of 1,500 watts and can simulate gradients up to 12%, making it best suited for serious cyclists.
The top model is the Van Rysel D900, which costs €549.99. It can simulate slopes of up to 20% and offer resistance up to 2,000 watts, representing a complete solution for demanding cyclists.
Furthermore, Decathlon also offers a smart indoor training bike under the Domyos brand. The Domyos Challenge 1500W is a complete indoor cycling set-up that provides up to 1500 watts of resistance. Despite being a fixed model that weighs 63 kilograms, its cost of €1,299.99 makes it an affordable option compared to other similar products on the market. According to Decathlon, the additional weight ensures “unbeatable stability”, ideal for intense sprint training.
All trainers can be connected to indoor training platforms like Zwift, and the Challenge 1500 also offers 40 workouts built right into the bike.
This range of products from Decathlon represents an accessible option for those who are new to indoor training or are unsure if it is right for them, allowing you to experiment with smart training without a large initial investment.
