Alcaraz Dominates Kecmanovic in Australian Open, Asserts Contender Status

Kecmanovic, on the contrary, suffered a lot on his own. Broken in his second service game, the Serb first chased the score during the first set, won easily by the Spaniard, impassable from the baseline (6-4). Kecmanovic then held on as much as possible behind his first ball but was once again surprised by his opponent at the worst of times at 3-3, leaving Alcaraz with a break in advance and a set won quietly (6-4, 6- 4).

The Spaniard only played an hour in the previous round, and didn’t intend to play much more today. With a dominant air, he then subdued his opponent by preventing him from any rebellion. With three consecutive breaks and almost perfect service games, Alcaraz finally defeated his opponent with a solid 6-0 in the last set.

A reassuring victory for Alcaraz who seems much more energetic than at the end of last season. With zero preparation tournaments, doubts were allowed around the case of the Spaniard who proved today that he was a serious contender for the title this season in Australia.
