JUSTICE – Humiliations. Insults. Blackmail. Former French tennis star Amélie Mauresmo has filed a complaint for harassment against her wife Marie-Bénédicte Hurel, with whom she is divorcing. The trial took place on Tuesday, France Bleu reported on Wednesday January 24.
As local radio explains, the tennis player arrived discreetly in the courtroom of the Bayonne courthouse. “ Due to the facts which concern the private sphere and the public personality of Amélie Mauresmo”, his lawyer Me Laurie Delpont requested a closed hearing.
Amélie Moresmo, 44, and Marie-Bénédicte Hurel, 60, had been together for many years. They have two children, got married in 2021. But the director of the Roland-Garros tournament filed for divorce two years later. And since then, she “lives in hell”, she says.
10 months suspended prison sentence required
She says she suffers humiliation, blackmail and insults on a daily basis, particularly via SMS. He was even prescribed ten days of total incapacity for work (ITT). Marie-Bénédicte Hurel was placed in police custody last September, specifies France Bleu, but she completely disputes the facts.
“The contested text messages do not relate to harassment at all, but to a simple discussion on daily management,” declared his lawyers Thierry Sagardoytho and Marie-Thérèse Hougneu. Me Sagardoytho assures that no one heard the insults, and denounces a “ exploitation of an artificial complaint in the perspective of divorce”.
Ten months suspended prison sentence was requested against Marie-Bénédicte Hurel. The judgment is expected on February 13.
