New England Patriots’ Wide Receiver Kayshon Boutte Arrested for Underage Sports Betting in Louisiana

The wide receiver of the New England Patriots, Kayshon Boutte, was arrested on Thursday in Baton Rouge, Louisianafor accusations of illegal sports betting while playing in LSU.

The state police of Louisiana reported that the charges against Boutte, 21, include a felony of computer fraud and a misdemeanor of gambling prohibited to persons under 21 years of age. The investigation is ongoing, police said, with additional charges possible.

Investigators assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division discovered that Kayshon Boutte He bet on sports from April 6, 2022 to May 7, 2023, when he was 20 years old. Boutte allegedly used an alias to circumvent the age requirement for sports betting on Louisiana.

The alias account believed to have been used by Boutte placed at least 17 bets on NCAA football games, including at least six of LSUaccording to the police.

“In July 2023, LSU was made aware of allegations regarding a former student-athlete’s inappropriate conduct related to sports betting while he was enrolled at the University,” he noted. LSU Thursday in a statement. “Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so. We have no evidence that other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities, and we welcome measures that detect and deter misconduct related to the game”.

The NFL declined to comment on Boutte’s arrest.

Kayshon Boutte appeared in only five games as a rookie this season with the Patriots and had two receptions for 19 yards.

“Los New England Patriots They are aware that Kayshon Boutte is cooperating with the police Louisiana regarding his investigation into a charge of underage gambling while he was a student at Louisiana State University,” a Patriots spokesperson told ESPN in a statement, adding that the team was not anticipating any additional comment on the matter.

Kayshon Boutte set a single-game SEC record with 308 receiving yards as a freshman against Be Miss in December 2020 and had nine touchdown receptions the following season as a sophomore. But he battled injuries during a disappointing season with the Tigers before being selected by the Patriots in the sixth round of last year’s draft.
