During this weekend the Spanish Indoor Archery Championship was held in the Esteban López Vega exhibition pavilion. The event, which has included modalities such as 3D, traditional bow, longbow and naked, has established a participation record compared to the previous edition in León, attracting almost 600 athletes from teams from practically all the autonomous communities.
The Councilor for Sports, David Sevilla, highlighted yesterday the positive economic impact for Valdepeñas and thanked the city council and the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha for allowing this type of event to be held in the region. Vicente Martínez, president of the Spanish Archery Federation, expressed his gratitude and highlighted the importance of the collaboration between both parties, with everyone benefiting from the participation of more than 500 athletes and 1,500 attendees in the championship.
Carlos Yuste, general director of Sports, valued the coincidence of the championship with the appointment of Castilla-La Mancha as a European Sports Region. He announced that they will take advantage of this context to promote minority sports such as archery, which has more than 1,000 members in the region, including 800 men and 280 women. In addition, he carried out archery workshops in seven large cities in Castilla-La Mancha as part of the more than 1,000 activities programmed to reach more than 500,000 participants.
