Being the oldest player in the NBA, at 39, doesn’t seem to have any effect on him. Against Golden State in any case, James had a remarkable game: 36 points, 20 rebounds and 12 assists in 48 minutes on the floor.
Facing him, another basketball legend, Curry, 35, finished with 46 points and seven assists… but could not prevent his team from losing.
The two-time NBA MVP first worked to tie the game at 118-118 about five seconds from the end of regulation time. He then put Golden State into orbit with a sumptuous three-point shot 5.2 seconds from the end of the second overtime.
But in five seconds, the four-time MVP James brought his opponents back down to earth, by converting the two free throws he had obtained to complete his score of the day.
This duel, “it’s something that I will keep in mind when I finish playing and that I can watch with my grandchildren, to say that I played against one of the best players in the history of the game,” enthused James.
“Steph came up to me after the match and said, ‘How come it’s getting better and better?’
