Marc Marquez revealed that he experienced a number of problems during the first day of the MotoGP test at Sepang. Marquez was only ninth fastest.
Marc Marquez was the ninth fastest rider in the first day of the MotoGP test session at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia. The Baby Aliens revealed he experienced several problems during the opening test. The eight-time world champion was recorded as having stopped four times and had to return to the Gresini Racing pits.
Marquez said that his younger brother, who was riding the Ducati Desmosedici GP23 motorbike, did not experience any problems. Even so, Marquez appreciated the performance of his team which worked very well.
“We planned to adapt the handle bars, but we didn’t have time to do it. We focused on the rear brake and the front brake, this is an important aspect for me. Now it is important to adapt to the riding style and also to the motorbike. The motorbike is completely different,” said Marquez quoted Speedweek.
This situation, said Marquez, is the opposite of that in Valencia. Just to remind you of the test in Valencia in November, Marquez was the fourth fastest rider when he first tried out Ducati. Gemma Pinto’s lover also recorded the first fastest time between tests.
“In some corners I’m as fast as the other riders, but in other corners I’m not as fast as them. I covered a lot of laps but it’s not a good thing if we talk about quality. We still have two days, and it doesn’t look like it will change much,” he said again.
“I’m used to Honda here, with Ducati you ride completely differently to be able to take advantage of the advantages of the motorbike. In the morning I ride like this on a Honda motorbike, the motorbike shakes a lot. But in the afternoon I start to understand it,” continued Marquez.
Marquez slightly compared his racing style when riding a Honda and Ducati. With the Ducati, there is more balance at the rear while the Honda is at the front. Not only that, setting up Honda motorbikes is also faster.
“If I had to compare, Valencia was of course better. The days there were without problems. Today I asked myself, where did I end up? I haven’t been able to get into a good rhythm. Only the last hour of the afternoon we were good “-Okay. You also have to be patient, I was relaxed. You don’t need to be fast here. I still need time to understand the motorbike so I can get close to the top riders,” he explained.
In Valencia, Jorge Martin was the racer with the fastest time followed by Pedro Acosta and Fabio Quartararo.
