KV Ostend faced Antwerp this Thursday in the semi-final of the Belgian Cup. And while everything is going wrong behind the scenes, the Côtiers obtained a very decent result.
Behind the scenes, KV Ostend is on the brink of collapse. The financial situation of the KVO is very precarious, an administrator had recently been appointed, and the last financial report was submitted very late. Sportingly, things are barely better, the club fighting for its survival in the Challenger Pro League.
But this Thursday, Ostend had a burst of pride. Receiving the defending champion in the semi-final of the Belgian Cup, KVO won a draw which leaves the club with hope for the return (1-1). New Antwerp recruit Mahamadou Doumbia opened the scoring in the first half, before Ewan Henderson responded before the break.
This Wednesday, Club Bruges defeated Union Saint-Gilloise (2-1), but scored the goal at the end of the match that could change everything. The two semi-finals of this Cup therefore remain very open!
What a strong match again from our boys. Everything can still be played in Antwerp. A thank you to our Kustboys for a nice old-fashioned atmosphere!#QUANTITY| ????❤️???? pic.twitter.com/IeXhtGnvBB
