Solingen. In their first year with the U18s, two talents from BFC Solingen demonstrated their skills. Moritz Kersting fought for third place at the district championships in Mönchengladbach (weight class up to 55 kg). His next stop after convincing performances will be the title fights at West German level, which will take place in Herne next weekend.

Alessandro Cirignotta (up to 50 kg) will not start there yet – although he also put in a strong performance. He gained combat experience and silver.
Sports bowling: Blue-White needs the threesome
Things aren’t looking ideal in the fight for promotion. With SG Aachen, the sports bowlers from Blau-Weiß Solingen-Hilden have an opponent that should not be underestimated. A three-pointer is needed to still have a chance in the Rhineland League’s long-distance promotion duel with SK Kamp-Lintfort II – on Sunday from 10 a.m. in the Langenfeld Manni-Jung sports bowling hall. “For us, the first thing that counts is to bring a coherent performance on our own tracks,” says team spokesman Markus Gruben, hoping that when we look up and at the rest of the program, the possibilities are not “of a more theoretical nature”.

The performances of the compact SK Hürth were too fluctuating recently, who only allowed the guests one point in a 2-1 (45:33, 4702:4544). Gruben himself was the best player for the Blue-Whites with 816 wood, followed by Bernd Tillmanns (798), Dennis Grohmann (758), Volker Miesner (741), Daniel Grohmann (731) and Christoph Kahl (700).
Handball: FALS wins again
When the sports gala on the Saturday after next brings many active people into focus, the Friedrich-Albert-Lange sports school will also be well represented – at the city honor, but also at the election of athletes. Here the young handball players made it into the three most popular teams.
Three teams have already laid the foundation for a similar performance at the Gala 2025, even if the road is still a long one. But a trio from the FALS bought their tickets to the state final in Münster, which will take place on March 6th.
At the district level, the boys in the U16 and U14 age groups as well as the girls in the younger age group prevailed. The Solingen U16 juniors were unlucky, as they only had to give way to the Liebfrauenschule Mülhausen high school with the same number of points because they scored fewer goals and had the same goal difference.
