The Best Athletes of 2023: Sports Awards Gala in Monzón City

The Sports Sector Council of the Monzón City Council has designated the best athletes of 2023 in the different categories. The soccer player Roberto Martín and the athlete Cristina Espejo will receive their public recognition as best athletes of 2023 at the sports awards gala, which will take place on March 1 at the San Francisco Auditorium.

Cristina Espejo, international athlete in the European Cross Country Championships, has been recognized as the Best Female Athlete of 2023.

Besides, Roberto Martín, Real Madrid player in the youth categories and international with the Spanish under-17 soccer team, will receive the award for Best Male Athlete of 2023.

The rest of the prizes that will be awarded during the gala

On the other hand, during the gala several awards will be given to sports entities and athletes in the city.

The Male Sports Promise Award will go to Javier Prieto, athlete from Binéfar- Centro Atlético Monzón and Mateo Mendoza from the Jaime Casas Chess Club

The Most Outstanding Non-Absolute Team Award will be received by Juvenil Fútbol Base Monzón for its promotion to the National League.

In addition, the volunteers of the Monzón Athletic Center will receive the Sports Dedication Award for their work in organizing events and maintaining the facilities. They will share this award with Blas Ríos from River Monzón, who is recognized for his 30 years of dedication to the club.

The Sports Promotion Award will go to the Monzón Basketball Academy (MBA) of the Monzón Basketball Club and the Best Coach Award will go to Mairelys Delgado of the Jaime Casas Chess Club, who has trained Mateo Mendoza, Isabel Bonet and Laura Gimeno, among others.

And finally, the Sports Merit Award for Andrea Barranco, Spanish Trail-running champion, 28K for over 35 years and Coral Barroso of Moto Rally, a discipline in which she has won the Aragón Tierra CA championship class 2 Tierra, runner-up of the mixed cup, 3rd in La Rioja, Aragón Baja Women’s Cup and 12th Jameel Rally.

In addition, the Monzón City Council will grant Sports Recognition to the Monzón Rhythmic Club for its 25 years of history.
