Impressive Results for Menorcan Athletes at Indoor Archery Championship of Spain

Five athletes from Club d’Arc Maó and one from Arquers des Mercadal will participate in the Indoor Archery Championship of Spain

Five athletes from Club d’Arc Maó and one of the Arquers des Mercadal will participate in Jaén in the Campeonato de España de tiro con arco in Room by age categories and Absolute. In the Under18 category: Iría Vanrell and Aina Gilabert; in Under21: Alex Corbacho, Lluc Santiago and Abel Melià and in Absolute: Alex Corbacho, Iría Vanrell, Aina Gilabert, Jaime Taltavull and Borja Goñalons.

Aina Gilabert finished in sixth position in the previous phase with a total of 550 points, which was a Menorca cadet, junior and senior record and which earned her a badge from the International Federation for having exceeded 550 points. Likewise, Lluc Santiago finished the qualifying phase fifth with 562 points, a Menorca junior record that had been in force for 23 years.

Gilabert and Santiago managed to qualify to be part of the Selecció Balear; After the playoffs, the female cadet team took second place in Spain by losing the tiebreaker against the Andalusian team. He male junior established its ranking based on the previous phase as there were not enough teams to carry out the qualifying rounds being classified in second position, behind the Madrid team that broke the Spanish record for the category in Jaén. In the female cadet playoffs, Iria Vanrell fell 6-4 in the round of 16 against the Balearic Gisela Torres and Aina Gilabert did the same and with the same result against the Galician María Ostero. In Junior, Abel Melià fell in 1/16 against Jorge González (7-3); Alex Corbacho advanced to the second round and lost to Andrés Temió from Madrid (6-0). Santiago reached the quarterfinals impeccably, where he could not beat the Navarrese Jorge Dabán (6-0), finishing eighth.

In the absolute queen test with Alex Corbacho, Aina Gilabert, Iria Vanrell, Jaume Taltavull and Borja Goñalons, only Vanrell surpassed the previous one, with his best mark of the course.
