Thomas Poll, Arhan’s Primary Competitor Candidate in the Indonesian National Team

Bola.net – New names continue to appear on the list of candidates for naturalized players for the Indonesian National Team. Most recently, there is the name of SC Cambuur player, Thomas Poll, who plays as a left back.

After the 2023 Asian Cup, Shin Tae-yong was not quite satisfied with the composition of the Indonesian national team players. The coach feels he needs additional energy on the front lines and intends to look for naturalized players.

Even though the Indonesian national team’s main need is a center forward, Shin Tae-yong is predicted to be open to options in other positions. This then sparked rumors of Thomas Poll’s naturalization.

The Indonesian National Team Still Needs an Additional Left Back?

In the 2023/2024 season, Thomas Poll plays for SC Cambuur in the Ereste Division or the Dutch second caste, on loan from Almere City. Thomas Poll played 16 matches, nine times as a starting player.

Quoted from Transfer market, Thomas Poll can play two positions. The former Groningen player can play as a defender and left winger. His main position is left back.

So, if naturalized, Thomas Poll will give Shin Tae-yong four choices in the left back position. He had to compete with Pratama Arhan, Shayne Pattynama, and Edo Febriansah. They regularly receive calls from the Indonesian National Team.

Apart from the competition with the three players above, Thomas Poll’s energy could be needed by the Indonesian national team to add depth to the squad.
