Kaiserslautern Judo Sports Club Students Secure Tickets to German Individual Championships

Leon Hermann and Maxima Zink from the Kaiserslautern Judo Sports Club, sports students at Kaiserslautern’s Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium, secured tickets to the German individual championships in Leipzig at the beginning of March at the southwest German individual judo championships for the U18 age group in Siershahn last weekend.

Leon Hermann, in the weight class up to 50 kilograms, fought his way to the final where he met Tim Nebenühr from Hesse. Both judoka know each other’s weaknesses and strengths, sometimes the Palatinate wins, sometimes the Hesse. In the South West Germans, Nebenühr ultimately had victory in his pocket, Leon Hermann went to Leipzig with silver.

His club colleague Maxima Zink (up to 57 kg) will accompany him there. After strong performances in Siershahn, she made it to the small final and was able to qualify for the German championship. She won bronze.

Lina Stark and Paul Steinbrenner, also JSV athletes and students of the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium, the elite school of sports, also showed good fights at the southwest German championships and each achieved fifth place in their weight classes.
