Former NBA Player and Actor Rashid Byrd Convicted of Sexual Assault: Behind Bars for 90 Years to Life

He’s going behind bars! Former NBA player and actor Rashid Byrd played 22 games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA Development League. His acting appearances were in the basketball comedy “Semi Pro” with Will Ferrell (56) and in the documentary “Bring Your ‘A’ Game”. But the basketball player is not a blank slate. He has been arrested several times for sexual assault. After three separate accusations, Rashid was convicted.

According to Deadline, the former athlete was arrested for sexual assault in 2020. “He started out as a charmer, playing off his status as an athlete and pseudo-celebrity, but that quickly spiraled into rape and violence,” said Senior Detective Dara Brown. The LAPD had been investigating Rashid since 2019 because a woman reported that he had sexually abused him. Now he has been sentenced to 90 years to life in state prison.

But the woman in Los Angeles was not Rashid’s first victim: he was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman in 2005. In 2010, another woman became a victim of the man – at that point he was even convicted.
