The NFL is in mourning.
Former professional Vontae Davis has died aged just 35. This is confirmed by the police in Florida.
The former star cornerback, who played in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills from 2009 to 2018, was found lifeless in his home after an emergency call, it is said. Nothing is currently known about the cause of death; the investigation is ongoing.
Resignation at half-time
“It is with a heavy heart that we learned of the death of Vontae Davis. We share our deepest condolences with the survivors and friends in these difficult times,” said the Dolphins.
Vontae Davis unexpectedly ended his career during halftime of the NFL game between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers in 2018. “It just didn’t feel right for me on the field anymore,” he said at the time.
