NFL Announces First Game in Brazil: Eagles vs Packers in Sao Paulo

The Philadelphia Eagles will play the Green Bay Packers in the NFL’s first-ever game in Brazil, the NFL announced Wednesday.

The league previously announced the Eagles would be the host team for the NFL’s first game in South America. The matchup — set to take place in Sao Paolo, Brazil at Corinthians Arena— will be played on Friday, Sept. 6, making it the first NFL game held on a Friday on opening weekend since 1970.

“We’re looking forward to being a part of this historic matchup against the Eagles in São Paulo,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy in a news release. “We’re excited to play in front of our devoted fans in Brazil and help build upon the international popularity of the NFL and the Packers.”

This will be the Packers’ second international regular season game. Green Bay last played outside the U.S. in 2022 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. This will be Philadelphia’s first international game since 2018.

It will be one of five regular season games to be played internationally in 2024, with three in London and one in Germany.

The Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars will play in London, while the Carolina Panthers will play in Munich, Germany. Their opponents haven’t been named yet.

In 2025, the number of international NFL games will increase to eight with Madrid being one of the new locations, the league announced in February.
